Insecurities swim within a female body day and night, destroying every piece of hope that she has left. The mirror is a girl’s best friend but also can be a girl’s greatest enemy. The mirror can make you feel like the prettiest princess and can also make you feel like the ugliest beast.
Every girl has battled with insecurities that takes a whole lot of fighting and love to overcome the darkness that lies behind the words in her head, behind the image of how she sees herself. Confidence doesn’t come overnight and confidence doesn’t come in a few days either. Confidence takes time. It’s a process that you have to overcome.
But Why is it that the women that explore social media have become the biggest role models to the eyes of young girls. The idea of a small waist and medium-size thighs have become the goal of young women in this generation. No one really thinks about being themselves anymore just being the next girl that a man makes as his screensaver and with high hopes and dreams of pulling the “role model”. Confidence takes time. It’s a hard long bumpy road and you just have to drive until you reach a point where you can look in the mirror and be happy with who you are, be happy with the little belly that hangs over your pants. Be happy with the stretch marks that lie on your beautiful skin, be happy with your little friends that appear on your face every once in a while. One day you will get to a place where you can look at yourself and not see the shame that you feel, see the beauty that you are. Like Maya Angelou said “ the flash of my teeth, the swing in my waist, and the joy in my feet. I’m a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That’s me”. We are all Phenomenal no matter the size of our bodies or the color of our skin.
