Breathe Color into Your Autumn Wardrobe with 3 Simple Tweaks

by Megan Hyde

What is ivory, pumpkin, emerald, taupe and fabulous for the fall season? Your wardrobe if you listen up! If you are looking for trends or permanent additions to spruce up your style, start with this eclectic mix of both distinct and classic shades.

Pumpkin Power

Aside from pumpkin being the fall season symbol (pumpkin spice is already on the loose — M&M’s, anyone?), the color absolutely drives home the feeling of comfort in a wardrobe. Pumpkin is enchanting, deep, and goes with both warm and dark shades. For example, canary yellow and pumpkin blended together offer a proper acknowledgement to the fall season, but the warmer shade keeps it airy.

Get Bejeweled

Emerald is a magnificent jewel tone, so think in terms of other jewel shades. Cobalt or Cerulean blue accessories look smashing with the green shade. What is another addition to a fabulous emerald blouse? Burgundy and mustard of course. A punchy lipstick shade from this red family or an amazingly patterned scarf with these colors would add the perfect wow factor.

Ivory and Taupe: Subtle Wardrobe Wins

If you find yourself looking for tones that will transition into winter and even spring, then home in on ivory and taupe. Specifically, a red tinged taupe would be just glorious. This slightly darker shade than tan gives you the opportunity to have both fall and winter fun while preparing for what’s to come.

Fashion is always moving to the next big moment. It’s best to be prepared and get the most out of your budget and plan ahead where you can.

Break the Labor Day Law

Ivory is the loophole to those living by the rule of “no white after Labor Day.” You can keep things winter fresh while having a blank palette to be dolled up however you see fit. Want to know a little secret? Ivory goes with every color — warm, light, dark, off beat, what have you. Take ivory as the wild card for the season and give it a go in any way you see fit.

The best part about a new season is the chance to try new ideas or come back to already cemented favorites. As with anything, balance is the key. Try a good mix of new but don’t forget about the things you wait every year and season for, either. Happy shopping!
